Review Procedure
The African Journal of Botany (AJB) maintains a rigorous review procedure to ensure the highest standards of scientific excellence. Upon submission, manuscripts must be electronically filed, including text, tables, and figures in a single Microsoft Word document. Authors are also required to provide a cover letter with the names, email addresses, and affiliations of three potential reviewers, alongside an affirmation of the manuscript's originality and exclusivity. Initially, the manuscript undergoes a pre-review by the handling editor within a period extending up to 45 days. Authors can also opt for the Fast Editorial Execution and Review (FEE-Review) process, which requires an additional $99 fee and guarantees an expedited review process, including a pre-review response within 3 days, a full review within 5 days, and a final decision within 2 days. Regardless of the route chosen, manuscripts are thoroughly evaluated by independent reviewers on the basis of scientific merit, originality, and significance. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in light of the reviewers' feedback before resubmission. It is important to note that the FEE-Review fee is non-refundable, even if the manuscript is rejected. Once accepted, manuscripts undergo meticulous preparation for online publication, ensuring they are available in multiple formats to enhance accessibility and readability. This structured and transparent review process highlights AJB's commitment to scientific integrity and excellence, affirming its reputation as a leading journal in the field of botany.
