Ediotor Guidelines

The African Journal of Botany (AJB) adheres to meticulous editor guidelines to uphold the highest scientific standards. Authors must submit manuscripts electronically in a single Microsoft Word file, including text, tables, and figures. A cover letter detailing the names, email addresses, and affiliations of three potential reviewers, along with a declaration of the manuscript's originality and exclusivity, is required. The corresponding author receives a manuscript number within 72 hours. AJB offers two review processes: the regular peer-reviewed route, involving a pre-review by the handling editor taking up to 45 days, and the Fast Editorial Execution and Review (FEE-Review) process, which promises a pre-review response within 3 days, a full review within 5 days, and a final decision within 2 days at an additional $99 fee. Manuscripts are rigorously assessed by independent reviewers on scientific merit, significance, and originality, with final decisions made by the editorial team based on reviewers’ feedback. Authors may need to revise and resubmit their work as per reviewers' comments. The FEE-Review fee is non-refundable regardless of the manuscript's fate. Accepted articles undergo detailed preparation for online publication in multiple formats, enhancing their accessibility and readability. AJB’s guidelines underscore its commitment to transparency, fairness, and excellence in scholarly publishing, ensuring that all published articles contribute significantly to the field of botany.
