Abstract

Advancement is one common goal of groups and nations. Its direct effect on society cannot be over-emphasized,
hence the argument for the holistic contribution from every segment. In Opobo kingdom, a community described as
disadvantaged, the low participation of women in the development and advancement of the kingdom is regarded as a
bane militating against the complete advancement of the society. To ameliorate this, this paper examines the
impediments and posits a change of attitude if the challenge of advancement is perceived as a collective effort of all
stakeholders.
